Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Gyrotourbillon 2

Posted 4 years, 1 month ago

In 2004, Jaeger-LeCoultre revolutionised the watchmaking world by launching the Gyrotourbillon1 watch. Four years later, the Manufacture introduces a new revolution with its new spherical tourbillon movement, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 174 specially developed for the rectangular shape for the Reverso case.

Gyrotourbillon
Universally acclaimed upon its introduction barely four years ago, the spherical tourbillon has found a natural new field of aesthetic expression in the Reverso with its distinctive shape that highlights the absolute beauty of this peerless technical achievement, while incorporating innovations that make it even more spectacular and accurate.

Cylindrical balance-spring
The Reverso Gyrotourbillon 2 is equipped with a cylindrical balance-spring featuring terminal curves, inspired by the mechanism of marine chronometers. Combined with the specific advantages of the spherical tourbillon, this innovation represents a major step forward in the field of precision and paves the way for unprecedented rating accuracy on a timepiece intended to accompany its owner's arm movements

The concentric "breathing" (expansion and contraction phases) of the balance spring serves to avoid the variations in rate inherent to the 6 positions (vertical and horizontal) that a timepiece can adopt, thereby enabling:
- improved precision
- improved isochronism
- a centre of gravity located exactly at the centre of the balance spring.

Design
This magnificent work of art magnifies the extraordinary ethereal complexity of the spherical tourbillon and features a decoration inspired by the greatest horological creations. All the bridges have been designed to meet the highest aesthetic standards and then meticulously decorated down to the smallest details. Haute Horlogerie connoisseurs will appreciate at their true value exquisite touches such as the hand-formed and polished interior angles and the fine rounding of the intermediate carriage bridge. The surfaces are adorned with Clous de Paris, Cotes de Genève, circular-grained or satin-brushed motifs so as to accentuate the graphic strength of this splendid rectangular movement.
