Jaeger-LeCoultre Grande Reverso Ultra Thin Italian Limited Edition

This year marks the 150th anniversary of Italian Unification: in 1861, their first Parliament declared the independent and unified Italy. However, 2011 also marks the 80th anniversary of Jaeger-LeCoultre ’s most desired timepiece: the epic Reverso. Earlier this year, the brand issued the Laeger-LeCoultre Tribute to 1931 Reverso US-only limited edition. Now they continue the celebration by issuing a model, especially for Italian market. The watch is issued in limited edition, featuring only 150 pieces in stainless steel and 50 pieces in pink gold.

There is a special link between the Swiss company Jaeger-LeCoultre and the country of Italy. The Italian distributor of Jaeger-LeCoultre rediscovered the Reverso cases in the manufacture, and he was the one that originally suggested the re-launching of the model in the late ’70s.



The special edition of Reverso remains a symbol of elegance. The watch is very slender, due to the ultra thin calibre Jaeger-LeCoultre 822, which measures only 2.94 millimeters. Actually, the new limited edition Reverso is the thinnest model in this line of watches ever created.

Clean and classic design is the most obvious on the dial, which is graced by small red elements, as a hallmark of the limited edition. Another interesting detail on the dial is that it features a letter R instead of a number at 8 o’clock. This is a tribute to the Italian rich heritage and the ancient Roman Empire: R was used in the Roman alphabet to indicate the number octoginta, 80. The surface of the dial is adorned with beautiful and clean vertical guilloché decoration, crisp Arabic numerals and fine blued hands.
