In a special ceremony held on April 30th in Germany, Breitling announced renewal of the financial support for preservation of this legendary flight machine. Moreover, Breitling will make an exclusive limited edition Navitamer chronograph, to raise funds and secure the future of the Lockheed L-1049 Super Constellation.
The new edition of the Navitimer aviation chronograph will fund another 200,000 Swiss Franc for the association. The honoring edition embraces 1.049 individual pieces – in tribute to the Lockheed L-1049. It bears the inscription “Breitling Super Constelation” on the dial, and stylized letter B in gold, sculptured in the style of Breitling’s 1950’s logo. Breitling often uses this insignia on their special editions and vintage-style models. Case-back is engraved with astounding technical specifications of the “Super Connie” and airplane’s silhouette.
This limited edition watch is animated by the Breitling Caliber 23, COSC officially certified chronometer. The self-winding watch is fitted with 25 jewels and beats at 28,000 vibrations per hour. The face of a watch reveals 1/4th of a second chronograph, 30-minute and 12-hour totalizers.
Crafted in stainless steel, this watch is fitted with rotating bezel with circular side rule. Chambered sapphire crystal, used to protect the dial, is glare-proofed on both sides. Nested in 42 millimeters wide case, the watch is water resistant to 30 meters. It comes in a choice of bracelets: Barenia leather, crocodile leather, Navitimer, or Air racer.
The Navitimer Super Constellation will be priced at $6475.
