IWC Ingenieur Automatic for Laureus Sport for Good Foundation
This is the fifth time that IWC shows commitment to children in need. Laureus Sport for Good Foundation helps millions of children and adolescents from all over the world who lead a daily struggle with poverty, war, violence, homelessness, drugs, racism and disease. The collaboration between IWC and the foundation started with the Portuguese Chronograph Automatic in 2006, and it continues for five consecutive years. Each year, one of the models from a wide range of IWC's collections is selected and revamped to be issued in a dedicated limited edition.
This year’s watch belongs to the IWC Vintage Collection. It was inspired by one of the brand’s classics - the Ingenieur Automatic of 1955. The watch is now offered as a modern tribute to the tradition, equipped with an innovative in-house 80111 calibre with the Pellaton winding system and an integrated shock absorber. The movement is built on 28 jewels, and provides 44 hours of power reserve when it is fully wound.

The watch is made of stainless steel, and has a nicely polished round case with 42.5 millimeters in diameter. It comes equipped with an imperial blue sunburst dial, graced with pointed indices and sword-shaped hands. As many of the IWC models, this one has a central hacking-seconds feature and a discrete date indication, positioned at 3 o’clock. Fitted with a screw-in crown, the watch is sealed against the ingress of water to 120 meters, or 12 bars.

Traditionally, the brand made a special effort to find the most appropriate decoration for the case-back. Once again, IWC organized a children’s drawing competition and chose the illustration by eight year-old Sohel Abrar Khan from Mumbai, who is part of the Laureus supported Magic Bus project. The theme of the competition was “Time for Unity” and the winner’s drawing depicted seven youngsters who have gathered for a game of football.
IWC Ingenieur Automatic Edition Laureus Sport For Good Foundation watch is available in 1,000 copies. The individual number of each piece is printed from the back.
