A. Lange and Sohne: four new members of the elegant Saxonia watch family

The collection is envisioned as a homage to Saxony, the place where this company, rich in history and tradition, was established in 1845. The Saxonia Automatic, Saxonia, Saxonia Thin, and Saxonia Dual Time are designed to reflect the traditions of Saxon watchmaking artistry and craftsmanship. The history of the state of Saxony spans more than a millennium, but its modern history begins in 1871, when Saxony joined the newly formed German Empire. The Saxon people were ruled by the same art loving rulers from the Wettin dynasty, who made this land what it still is today – a land of 1000 castles, arts and crafts, and numerous inventions. The Saxon city of Glashütte is still a place where some of the world’s most refined watches are made.

SAXONIA AUTOMATIC is a watch that uses the in-house calibre L086.1, the third all-new self-winding movement developed from the ground up by A. Lange & Söhne. It boasts a power reserve of 72 hours and an argenté-hued, solid-silver dial, framed by a chamfered bezel. SAXONIA is a manually wound watch based on the manufacture calibre L941.1. It offers 45 hours power reserve, and has a small seconds hand with top seconds function. The SAXONIA DUAL TIME is envisioned as a perfect travel companion. Adjustments of the time are easy to make using two pushers located at 8 and 10 o’clock in the left-hand case flank. A second hour hand in blued steel indicates the time at home, which makes it easy to check both times at a single glance. This self-winding watch uses a calibre L086.2 movement has a power reserve of 72 hours. SAXONIA THIN is an ultra-thin watch with a height of merely 5.9 millimeters. The piece boasts 40 millimeters in diameter and houses 2.9-millimetre manually wound movement based on Calibre L093.1.
