Frederique Constant Heart Beat Manufacture GMT Automatic

The new Frederique Constant range comprises of six models, each offered in a limited edition of 1888 pieces in stainless steel and 188 pieces in 18-carat pink gold. They all use the same Heart Beat Manufacture GMT calibre (cal FC-938) that offers a second time zone functionality and 42-hours of power reserve.

From the front, the watch reveals a second time zone counter and day/night indicator at 12 o’clock, as well as the Heart Beat aperture at 6 o’clock. The former is the distinctive feature of all Heart Beat models as they all have an aperture at the position of the balance wheel, through which the splendor of the mechanical movement can be admired without the need to take the watch off the wrist. The original Heart Beat introduction FC-310M36 was issued back in 1994. The purpose of the Heart Beat was to separate mechanical watches from battery-operated ones. The aperture on the dial, therefore, doesn’t only have an aesthetic value, but it also shows that the watch is mechanical.

A glance through the Heart Beat aperture reveals the balance wheel which rotates in both directions around its axis, having a gorgeous ruby jewel in the center. The hairspring, which continuously coils and uncoils, propels the balance wheel to move clockwise and counter clockwise. The mechanical beauty is also visible through the see-through case back secured by 8 screws.
