The IWC Portuguese Yacht Club Chronograph Edition Volvo Ocean Race

IWC is the Official Sponsor of the Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing team and this is why they decided to create something truly unique for the occasion. The new Portuguese Yacht Club Chronograph Edition “Volvo Ocean Race 2011–2012” is the world’s first Yacht Club chronograph to be built in titanium and it will also be a prize at the end of each race leg, in the course of the journey of 39,270 nautical miles (72,728 km) through some of the world’s most unpredictable waters.



This elegant sports watch has a precision of a genuine nautical instrument and provides all of the features necessary to uphold amazingly high speeds even in the most challenging conditions: a stopwatch function with hours minutes and seconds, hour and minute counters in a single totalizer at 12 o’clock, small hacking seconds hand, a flyback function, and a date display.




Titanium case measures 45.4 mm in diameter and encloses a large, well-ordered carbon-black dial. Hands and indices are covered by luminescent material to ensure optimum legibility in all conditions. The case features a screw-in crown with crown protection and guarantees water-resistance to 6 bar. Everything is powered by IWC-manufactured 89361-calibre movement, which beats at 28,800/h and allows for 68 hours of power reserve. Mounted on a black rubber strap with folding clasp in stainless steel.
