Van Cleef and Arpels Temps Poetique Collection

Posted 3 weeks, 5 days ago

Van Cleef & Arpels is French jewellery, watch, and perfume company founded in 1896 by Charles Arpels and Alfred Van Cleef. Brand’s strong inclination towards poetry and wonder is embodied in their works arisen from the combined expertise of high watchmaking and aesthetics of fine jewelry. Following the Lady Arpels Féerie with retrograde movement, from 2007, Une Journée à Paris, and Pont des Amoureux from 2010, Van Cleef & Arpels unveiled two new wonderful creations this year at SIHH: Lady Arpels Poetic Wish and Midnight Poetic Wish. Both watches feature a romantic scene happening in Paris and they are delivered in a luxury box made of precious woods and inlayed with mother-of-pearl.

Lady Arpels Poetic Wish

Lady Arpels Poetic Wish

The female watch, Lady Arpels Poetic Wish, showcases wonderful scene on the enamel dial. There is the Eiffel Tower made from white gold, clouds made in mother-of-pearl, and an intricate painting of the river Seine. The Notre-Dame Cathedral is featured at the center of the composition and a female figure, standing on the terrace of the tower.

The pusher, positioned at 2 o’clock activates the series of gongs of the minute repeater, where the low tones stand for hours while the higher tones represent five-minute intervals. At the same time, the surface of the dial sets in motion and a kite appears on the dial, symbolizing girl’s chase for dreams.

Van Cleef & Arpels Lady Arpels Poetic Wish is crafted in white gold and features 39 mm in diameter. The watch is set with color diamonds of exceptional VVS clarity, all along the bezel, and offered in two options for the strap: calfskin leather or pearl grey moiré leather.

Men’s watch of the Temps Poétique Collection for 2012 represents a nightly scene with a male figure standing on the top of Notre-Dame Cathedral, reaching towards the Eiffel Tower, where the girl from the lady’s watch stands. A simple press on the pusher, located at 2 o’clock, activates the scene and makes the shooting star appear above male figurine. The shooting star travels towards the Eiffel Tower, carrying his wish to the girl.

The watch is also crafted in white gold, set with diamonds and featured in a case with 43 mm in diameter. The watch is available in two options for the strap: calf suede and alligator claire de lune leather.
