Marina Milojević | 06.06.17 | 01:13 PM

Earlier this year, on the occasion of the SIHH exhibition, the house of Montblanc has introduced the new Montblanc TimeWalker Collection. Announced as a rebirth of professional watches this collection focuses on the chronograph complication, or, more precisely, on competitive driving and performance timing.

Montblanc TimeWalker Chronograph Rally Timer Counter Limited Edition 100

The Montblanc TimeWalker Collection is inspired by performance. It serves as a powerful tribute to the Minerva, a legendary Swiss watch manufacture, today part of Montblanc in the Richemont group, which produced high-quality instruments for measuring brief intervals of time with remarkable precision. The new collection unites the legendary instruments of the past with the spirit of motor racing in a range of vintage-themed timepieces designed for modern-day performers.

Montblanc TimeWalker Chronograph Rally Timer Counter Limited Edition 100

The new TimeWalker collection comprises a number of sporty chronographs with a 43 mm case size. These masculine, vintage-themed timepieces, are created using the most remarkable combination of high-performance materials such as high-tech black ceramic, satinated steel, titanium and rubber. The aesthetic codes of the line are deeply rooted in the world of racing, inspired by the aerodynamic lines of the bodywork of classic cars, adorned with knurled finishing reminiscent of vintage car caps, and sealed with smoked glass case backs inspired by the glass windows that reveal sporty V12 engines. The most interesting assortment of leather straps pays a powerful tribute to vintage leather racing gloves.

The watch face of these new models displays strong contrasts of colors, three-dimensional counters inspired by vintage dashboards, precise scales and dauphine-shaped hands with SuperLuminova. On some of the models, there is an iconic central seconds hand painted in red with the tip taking the shape of the Minerva arrow. All the models are water-resistant to 100 meters.

The most exclusive watch in the range is the new Montblanc TimeWalker Chronograph Rally Timer Counter, available in limited edition of 100 pieces worldwide. This shape-shifting timepiece comes with a possibility of transforming into a pocket watch or a dashboard clock. The watch can be worn on the wrist, secured by an elegant black leather calf strap, or easily converted into a pocket watch by simply folding the strap attachments under the case and turning the case from 0 to 180 degrees. The pocket watch can then be either placed on a table thanks to two arms below the case, used as a stopwatch with the strap as a handle, or clipped into a metal plate and attached to a car’s dashboard.

This particular model comes in a slightly larger case than the rest of the range, measuring 50 mm in diameter. The satinated case has been made out of grade-two titanium, while its middle section has also been knurled and coated with black DLC. The back of the case reveals a see-through crystal in the shape of a car grill that reveals the beauty of the Manufacture manually-wound monopusher chronograph caliber MB M16.29.

The manufacture caliber features a column wheel, horizontal coupling and a power reserve of 50 hours. It drives the highly legible hands and chronograph functions, including the chronograph’s 30-minute counter at 12 o’clock, which is vertically aligned with the small seconds subdial at 6 o’clock, suggestive of the original Minerva Rally Timer.

Montblanc TimeWalker Chronograph Rally Timer Counter Limited Edition 100, reference number 116103, is limited to 100 pieces and priced at €38,000 (around $42765 USD, at the time of publishing).

Earlier this year, in September, the house of Montblanc unveiled the limited edition, diamond-set ExoTourbillon Minute Chronograph Vasco da Gama wristwatch, a piece that combines two of the most prized chronometric complications: a chronograph and a patented tourbillon. For this special edition, the gorgeous Montblanc ExoTourbillon Minute Chronograph Vasco da Gama model is set with diamonds, and presented in a 44 mm-diameter white gold case.

The exceptional multi-leveled dial, staging the two complications of the timepiece, is decorated with dark blue aventurine, and embraced by 76 diamonds. The balance wheel is completely disclosed, and surrounded by a semi-precious stone that evokes a starry night. The aventurine is used for the upper portion of the dial, thus referencing the sky of the southern hemisphere that guided Vasco da Gama during his voyage. A single diamond, cut in the shape of the Montblanc insignia, shines at 12 o’clock, while the center of the dial features a blue “...

Montblanc has just unveiled its latest model, which is dedicated to the memory of Nicolas Rieussec, the inventor of the inking chronograph. This time, the famous haute horlogerie brand commemorates Rieussec’s second invention, from 1825 – the ink-trace chronograph. A special place among Montblanc's latest innovations is saved for the Bohème Day & Night model, which gracefully unites timeless feminine elegance, reflected in its refined aesthetics, and unparalleled functionality and precision.

The new Montblanc model, which is dedicated solely to the ladies, has a discrete small Day and Night complication set against the emblematic Bohème guilloché dial. This romantic indication is of no practical purpose for a modern lady, but it beautifully exemplifies the great tradition of Swiss complications, and the artistic expertise of Montblanc. This purely poetic indicator allows the wearer to find out which part of the day or night it is precisely. The complication is, actually, a rotating disc, on which the day segment is indicated throug...
