BaselWorld 2017

On the occasion of the BaselWorld 2017, Rolex unveils three new versions of its Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona. In addition to the 18-carat yellow gold and 18-carat white gold, the legendary model also returns in Everose Gold. This time, the luxurious, sporty model is held on the innovative rubber bracelet – the OysterFlex in elastomer reinforced with a metal blade! The Oysterflex bracelet is also fitted with an 18 ct yellow, white or Everose gold Oysterlock safety clasp – depending on the version of the watch.

The Rolex Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona, which was first introduced in 1963, is one of the most recognizable chronographs worldwide. Its most prominent details is its bezel engraved with a tachymetric scale for measuring average speeds of up to 400 units of distance – miles or kilometers – per hour.

In its latest rendition, the legendary Daytona is equipped with a monobloc Cerachrom bezel in black ceramic, patented by Rolex. The black bezel, reminiscent of the 1965 model, is a subtle tip of the hat to the heritage of this legendary timepiece. Even though it evokes the past, the Cerachrom bezel, made from a single block of material, represents the latest evolution in high-tech materials. It is corrosion resistant, virtually scratchproof, and its color remains unaffected by UV rays. The markings on the bezel are created by the deposition of a thin layer of 18-carat gold or platinum in the numerals and graduations via a PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) process.

The Cosmograph Daytona is powered by the Calibre 4130, which is a self-winding mechanical chronograph movement entirely developed and produced by Rolex. The number of components for the chronograph function was reduced considerably to improve the movement’s reliability. The oscillator is equipped with Rolex’s patented Parachrom hairspring, which is completely resistant to magnetic fields, and remains up to 10 times more precise than a traditional hairspring in case of shocks. Calibre 4130 comes with approximately 72 hours of power reserve.Like all Rolex watches, the new Cosmograph Daytona holds the Superlative Chronometer certification. Its Oyster case, with a fluted case back that is hermetically screwed down, is waterproof to a depth of 100 meters (330 feet).

Earlier this year, on the occasion of the BaselWorld watch and jewelry show, Rolex introduced a new Oyster Perpetual Air-King, a watch that continues the rich aeronaval heritage of the original Rolex Oyster.

The new Rolex Oyster Perpetual Air-King is a prominent reintroduction of an old classic, a watch that pays tribute to Rolex’s aviation roots. The new model evokes Rolex’s important role within the world of aviation, and especially its golden age during the 1930’s. Used Rolex watches are big business for unsavory sellers. What's real and what's fake? That's what buyers need to know.
