Carl F. Bucherer A Tribute to Mimi is designed in a typical art deco style. This watch pays a tribute to Mimi Bucherer-Heeb, an exceptionally able woman, who was married to Carl Eduard Bucherer in 1921. They then moved to Santiago de Chile, where together they built up a jewellery and watch business. Mimi lost her life in 1927, when the boat “Principessa Mafalda” sank, taking with it 314 passengers and crew. The wreck of the “Principessa Malfalda” has never been found, and the ocean still hides a stack of valuable watches and precious stones, necklaces and bracelets, madam Mimi were taking with her in Chile. And her own art deco style watch – one of the first ever created especially for ladies – almost certainly still lies there too.
Carl F. Bucherer A Tribute to Mimi is a reinterpretation of a watch that would have been worn in Mimi Bucherer-Heeb’s lifetime. The watch uses a manually wound original tonneau-shaped SA 715 movement from the 1920s, this time painstakingly revised.
The case and the bracelet are made of white gold and set with 528 Top Wesselton vvs diamonds (totaling 3.15 ct). Limited edition of 70 pieces. |
