The Santos de Cartier wristwatch is as modern today as when it was created by Louis Cartier more than a century ago. Its singular aesthetic marks a milestone in the House of Cartier's explorations of geometrical forms. Louis Cartier designed the first Santos de Cartier in 1904 for his friend, the Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont who wanted to know what the time was without losing control of his "flying machine".
The Cartier Santos watch is crafted in stainless steel, with brush polished bezel and stainless steel bracelet with steel inserts. The white dial is graced with Roman numerals, sword-shaped steel hands and protected with sapphire crystal glass. There is a small date window positioned at 6 o'clock.
The watch utilizes Cartier caliber automatic movement, and it is water resistant up to 30 meters. This makes it suitable for everyday use, but not for swimming or snorkeling. |
