Romain Jerome introduces its new colorful Steampunk timepieces that play with the contrast of light and dark - the Romain Jerome Steampunk Auto Colors
The automatic edition of the Steampunk collection is now enriched with new summer-ready timepieces on which the Roman XII and VI numerals, the logo and the hexagonal crown have been colored in yellow, white, red, blue, green and orange depending on the model.
Romain Jerome Steampunk is immediately recognizable for its retro-futuristic design. The watch is housed in a black PVD-coated steel 50 mm case, and fitted with an open-worked movement that reveals the circular graining and thoroughly bead-blasted blackened bridges. As its name suggests, the model is inspired by steampunk, a sub-genre of science fiction that usually features steam-powered machinery. This genre is best described by the slogan: "What the past would look like if the future had happened sooner." In aesthetic terms, steampunk typically refers to anachronistic technologies or retro-futuristic inventions as people in the Victorian or quasi-Victorian alternate history setting might have envisioned them. That is why the surface of the Romain Jerome Steampunk watches, especially its indexes, features hand-working directly on the movement’s bridges, which gives them a unique rough finish.
Each piece from the Romain Jerome Steampunk Auto Colors series is mounted on a black alligator leather strap with matching colored stitching. It features the automatic movement RJ001-AS, which runs on 42 hours of power reserve. In addition to hours and minutes hands, the movement also winds the propeller-shaped second hand at 9 o’clock, evoking the details of the transatlantic ships from the 20th Century. The hour and minute hands have also been shaped in the form of anchors, while the satin finished bezel holds in place four screwed-down pistons symbolising RJ-Romain Jerome’s signature “X” motif.
Romain Jerome Steampunk Auto Colors are limited to 99 pieces in each color. Each piece is priced at CHF 13,950; EUR 13,950, or USD 16,950.
