To celebrate 50 years since Navitimer has become the famous "space chronograph," Breitling launches a special Navitimer Cosmonaute 50th Anniversary Limited Edition.
Breitling Navitimer is the world's first spacegoing chronograph - launched to space in 1962, when the Lt Commander Scott Carpenter orbited the Earth three times aboard the Aurora 7 capsule. On this important mission, Scot Carpenter was wearing this particular model on his wrist. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of this historical event, Breitling is launching a new Navitimer Cosmonaute, which this time comes equipped with the manufacture movement. There are two nods to the historical date of May 24th 1962: the watch arrives as a limited edition of 1962 exemplars, and it offers a 24-hour display. The commemorative Aurora 7 mission insignia is engraved on watch's case-back.

The new Manufacture Breitling Caliber 02 powers the Navitimer Cosmonaute. This is a manually-wound movement with 24-hour graduated scale – a functionality developed especially for cosmonauts, so they could distinguish day from night. The movement is based on Breitling's Caliber 01, but engineers and watchmakers have chosen to design it as manual-winding system, just like the watch Scott Carpenter wore while he was orbiting the Earth.

The watch is crafted from stainless steel and it features a black dial with silver counters. The case-back reveals another interesting detail – a Celsius/Fahrenheit conversion scale, typical for vintage Navitimer models. The case measures 43mm in diameter, it is topped with bidirectional rotating bezel with circular slide rule, and sealed against the ingress of water to 30 meters (100 feet / 3 bars). As always, Breitling offers various choices for the bracelet: Barenia leather, crocodile leather/Air Racer (perforated) or Navitimer.
