On the occasion of the BaselWorld 2016 trade show, the house of ArtyA expands its Race Collection, to include a couple of new versions of its racing-inspired timepiece.

The new reference is a sequel to ArtyA's first ever series of racing timepieces. For once again, ArtyA is pushing the limits of haute horlogerie with an interesting design feature. The Artya Race is distinguished by an innovative hub on the rim on the dial side, which goes right through the watch – including the sapphire crystal. This dynamic timepiece is the world's first ever watch with a speedy time indication – the hours and minutes can only be seen when the wheel on the dial turns at full speed!

The unusual timekeeper is inspired by the world of NASCAR auto racing, and it is designed due to popular demand from clients passionate in speed racing. Earlier this year, ArtyA introduced two limited editions of 99 watches, Race V1 and Race V2, both measuring 44mm in diameter and crafted from stainless steel. Similar to the ArtyA’s Russian Roulette model - on which the dial-mounted rotor, shaped like a revolver cylinder, spins with the motion of one's wrist – the Race watches are fitted with a free-spinning aluminum rim above the dial, evoking a racecar wheel rim. When the rim is spinning at full speed, the optical effect of transparency comes on stage, allowing the otherwise concealed dial to be seen.

In 2016, ArtyA’s Race watch is made of matte black PVD-coated stainless steel. It measures 44.5mm in diameter, and features an all-black aluminum wheel rim. The side inserts are made from red PVD-coated steel, while the case-back reveals a brand new oscillating weight and a carbon fiber tachometer. The watch is powered by the exclusive ArtyA automatic movement, with hours, minutes, and seconds functions. Limited to 99 pieces worldwide. The watches are available for pre-order at 7900 CHF.

Artya Race is available in stainless steel or with different PVD treatments, with side steel inserts with various PVD treatments or in carbon fiber. For more information, please visit Artya.com.
