Last couple of days I have introduced a number of new models by various luxury brands. All of them are going to be exhibited at this year’s BaselWorld fair, which is to be held from March 8th to 15th. Same as every year, BaselWorld offers a great insight at the Swiss watchmaking industry, its main trends and positioning of the brands.
BaselWorld is actually the world’s largest and most important watchmaking and jewellery fair. Here you can find just anything that falls into one of the two realms. There is a plentitude of models, ranging from simple quartz ones to the most sophisticated mechanical pieces, each of them telling its own story set somewhere on the road between tradition and innovation.

BaselWorld Show
What is common for all of them is a carefully cherished Swiss watchmaking tradition that never obeys fashion or current trends. BaselWorld is also a perfect place to see all different aspects of Swiss craftsmanship on one place. The visitors will have their chance to see virtuous demonstrations of artistic crafts such as engraving, enameling, mosaic, guilloche, paving, and many others. They’ll also get a chance to admire the beauty of most exquisite materials used in high-end watchmaking, such as diamonds, precious stones, mother-of-pearl…
The year 2011 was the record year for Swiss watchmaking. This spring, about 1800 brands from the watch, jewellery and precious-stone industries, will showcase their latest creations and innovations in Basel. The fair is expecting to host about 100,000 visitors from all over the world, and this year the booths are growing ever larger than before. Check out the current atmosphere at Basel, just a couple of weeks before the fair begins!
