At this year’s BaselWorld trade show, the house of Boucheron has unveiled a number of new models. The most imaginative of them all is certainly the new Ajourée Hopi, a charming diamond-stud watch inspired by the beauty and liveliness of the hummingbird.
In the mythology of the Hopi Indians from northeastern Arizona, the hummingbird is a hero who saves the humanity from starvation by pledging on behalf of humans to convince the gods to bring rain. In the most beautiful manner, Boucheron draws inspiration from this legendary bird, which is known for is beauty, speed, and tiny size, to expand its Ajourée collection.
The newest addition to the Ajourée range is a small and feminine openworked timepiece dressed in sparkling colorful gemstones. The dazzling shine of diamonds accentuates the volume of two tiny birds, pictured on each side of the off-centered dial. Boucheron’s skillful jewelers have hand-picked no less than 534 stones, diamonds and multicolored sapphires, and carefully positioned them to obtain a stunning effect.
Like all other watches from Boucheron’s Ajourée range, the Ajourée Hopi features an open-work golden skeleton graced with sparkling precious stones. This range comprises exquisite jewelry watches that create a subtle play of light, offering a luminous, dreamlike impression. The latest member of the Ajourée family is made of pink gold 18 K/750 and white gold 18 K/750. The openworked section of the watch face depicts two hummingbirds taking flight. The birds are sculpted in 3 dimensions, while the tips of their wings are slightly protruding out beyond the diamonds ring. The bodies of the birds are paved with diamonds, pink and orange sapphires, while the back of their wings is jewelry openworked in a honeycomb pattern.
The round case measures 38 mm in diameter featuring 266 round diamonds, and 266 sapphires. The small dial conceals the Quartz ETA E01 movement with hour and minute functions. The push button placed on the back side of the case is used for setting the time, instead of a traditional crown. The dial is made of pink mother of pearl with anthracite horizontal paint of the logo “Boucheron” centered at 12h.
