French jewelry and watch house of Boucheron has unveiled a couple of new imaginative timepieces at this year’s BaselWorld exhibition.
Boucheron's new collection, Epure d’art, is focused on reducing all of the unnecessary details while skinning the watch to its most fundamental features. The collection is named after the French word for artistic working sketch and it brings no less than nineteen different models from classic ones to opulent jewelry creations. Boucheron Cicada watch is one of these new watches, and possibly one of those one mostly capture the brand’s recognizable DNA, showcasing its unequaled expertise in decorative arts.
There are seven jewelery models in the Epure d’art collection. Five of them are inspired by floral life, while the other two feature decorative insect motifs - scarab and cicada. I have already informed you about the Khepri secret watch, with an interesting case that features a system which allows the wings-shaped front cover to open smoothly to reveal the hidden dial. Now it’s the time to turn to another stunning creation – Boucheron Cicada Watch.
As you can see, the watch features a beautiful mother-of-pearl dial decorated with cicada motif. The head and the body of the insect are made from green tourmalines, where the head is a cabochon and the body is a gadroon with 8 pink sapphires at its center. The lower wings are made of translucent pink mother-of-pearl, whole the upper wings are made from white gold and diamonds.
Boucheron Cicada Watch shows only hours and minutes, but it uses a reliable Swiss-made automatic movement. It comes on a delicate pink strap made from alligator leather, finished with pink buckle in white gold.
