Cuervo y Sobrinos, the famous Cuban-Swiss brand with a distinctively lively Latin spirit, introduces a new model designed for gentlemen of good taste.
The new Torpedo Pirata GMT, aptly nicknamed “a romantic rebel,” evokes the historical past of Cuervo y Sobrinos brand, and its place of origin. Caribbean islands such as Cuba, Tortuga and Santo Domingo, were from around 1560 up until the 1720s the most popular pirate strongholds. The new Cuervo y Sobrinos Torpedo Pirata GMT conveys the spirit of freedom of the bygone era, and pays a tribute to the rebellious and romantic side of the adventurers.

The 45 mm-wide case of the Torpedo Pirata watch is shaped like a cannon mouth, while its lugs represent the bow of a ship plundering on the Caribbean Sea. The crown is designed like a globe, while the lugs remind of a buckle. The Torpedo Pirata GMT brings an innovation that hasn’t been seen in watchmaking before: a modular case with interchangeable rings fitted between the case and the bezel.

The Torpedo Pirata GMT is available bronze with titanium, or burnished steel, in two versions with white or black dial. The model is equipped with an automatic mechanical movement (SW 330-1) endowed with a second time zone complication and date at 6 o’clock. The movement is fitted with 25 jewels, and it promises up to 40 hours of power reserve. The sapphire crystal case-back, engraved with a unique logo for this model - 2 swords surround the classic Cuervo y Sobrinos logo, reveals the details of the mechanism. At the same time, it protects the watch from the ingress of water, to up to 50 meters.
Cuervo y Sobrinos is mounted on a strap in black alligator or ostrich with grey stitching and pin buckle in titanium. Same as all of the Cuervo y Sobrinos watch models, the Torpedo Pirata GMT is delivered in an elegant wooden case that doubles as a luxurious cigar humidifier. The watch is priced at $6,500.
