Glashutte Original The Star Collection - Four Seasons

Luxois | 04.13.08 | 05:02 PM

The magic of the four seasons in stylish, luxurious executions - the four exquisite new ladies' watches in Glashutte Original's Star Collection embody this. Sparkling gemstones, precious materials, a rich creativity, and innovative watch making are united in the creation of the FourSeasons, which underscore the style of the self-assured, modern woman in a powerful and glamorous way. All four creations are design works of art representing the highlights of each season.

A sea of blossoms, almost surreally beautiful, represents the spring. The fragrant flood of flowers prevalent in this season, shimmering like silk and mother-of-pearl in the spring sunshine, served as the source of inspiration for Glashutte Original's designers. They created SpringBlossom as a magnificent piece to seduce the senses - something with which the feminine woman loves to clothe herself:

The case of the new timepiece is crafted in polished white gold; while a bezel set with 64 clear white diamonds frames the dial. The dial itself, clothed in a tender pink with a branch of shimmering blossoms, tells a tale of the flowering ecstasy and light-heartedness of spring, the magic of a new beginning. Thirty-seven pink diamonds'all natural stones - and 70 white diamonds embellish the dial, with the precious stones building the structure for the hour and second displays. Blossoms engraved by hand and nine white diamonds decorate the case sides. The crown represents the perfect finish, set with a 0.25 ct diamond. A pink Acqualino strap with 22 white diamonds on its buckle completes the spring motif of SpringBlossom, which carries a total of 2.232 ct of precious gems.

Powerful and shiny, SummerSun represents the summer among the new Star Collection models:

In our solar system, the sun is the only heavenly body giving off light; in the summer this star is the driving force behind all earthly growing and flowering with its pure, inexhaustible energy. The designers have captured this special characteristic of the sun with their new creation. The woman who wears this work of art will feel inspired by the shining power of her sunny timepiece.

Yellow gold is SummerSun's case material. Seventy white diamonds and 74 gold-treated diamonds embellish its dial, and a shining sun with long sunrays is the motif of the time display on this exquisite timekeeper. The sunrays continue on to the case sides, where nine white diamonds truly light them up. As on all masterpieces of the Four Seasons Star Collection, the dial is framed by a bezel set with 64 clear white brilliant-cut diamonds. Together with the diamonds in the crown and the 22 stones on the buckle, a total of 2.581 ct shines on SummerSun, whose sunny yellow alligator skin strap secures it to its wearer.

The fall is that which crowns the annual cycle with sweet fruits and bright colors. Beech trees carry a deep artificially darkened gold to the climax of this season, while the maple chooses red-brown gold in all shades. AutumnLeaf is the result of Glashutte's designers associating with fall, the season in which trees bloom in their most beautiful colors: shining gold, an ecstasy of color, full and magnificent:

The artfully crafted ladies' watch AutumnLeaf will underscore the innate shine of its wearer while she is celebrating the rhythm of nature with the Star Collection's four seasons. The case of this masterpiece of the art of watch making is crafted in rose gold. Thirty-two cognac-colored treated diamonds, 27 gold-treated diamonds, and 24 white diamonds lend the dial a gold-brown shimmer. Sixty-four white diamonds are set into the bezel, and this shining ensemble attracts the attention of the observer like a golden fall day.

The chestnut-colored, embossed satin strap is artfully embellished with leaves and branches, thus impressively continuing the dial's motif. There, shimmering upon a rose gold-brown background are mother-of-pearl white leaves on a curved branch. Perfectly located away from the center, like on all timepieces of the Star Collection, two intertwining circles made of diamonds create the displays for hours and seconds. The case sides are decorated with engraved leaves; the buckle is set with 22 white diamonds.

The sparkle of diamonds and that of ice crystals when sunrays hit them - as if they are related; Glashutte Original's designers have magically played with this analogy. Their creation, WinterDream, represents winter in this cycle of seasons: a white time; a dream; clear, pure, and grandly quiet a blanket of snow lies across the land. The wearer of the WinterDream timepiece will be pleased by its cool elegance, allowing her to feel the magic of the seasons in a special way:

The case of this shimmering treasure is crafted in polished white gold. On the dial are 18 blue treated diamonds and 70 white diamonds, while the bezel is set with 64 clear white diamonds. This winter's dream is represented by a leafless tree against an ice-blue background; the case sides display hand-engraved crystals. A total of 2.050 ct gemstones embellish WinterDream. This model finds perfection in an Acqualino strap whose structure is reminiscent of glittering snow crystals. The buckle with its 22 white diamonds completes the watchmakers' composition and the dream of a woman on a sunny winter day.

Each of the attractive works of art of the Four Seasons Star Collection is outfitted with a rose gold dial covered by a paper-thin layer of mother-of-pearl upon which the seasonal motifs are pressed by hand. All of the diamonds on the watch cases are set by a master's hand.

The solid gold cases of the four new timepieces house automatic Caliber 90, a movement that reveals all of the quality characteristics of the Saxon master watchmakers and the high demands of the manufactory. The duplex swan-neck fine adjustment developed and manufactured by the Glashutte watchmakers allows the precise adjustment of both the movement's rate and beat. It is positioned on a balance bridge, which is a rare element in watch making. Like all the handmade originals of the manufactory, the Four Seasons ladies' watches are outfitted with the traditional elements of the Glashutte art of watch making such as the three-quarter plate decorated with Glashutte ribbing and an off-center skeletonized rotor with a 21-karat gold oscillating weight. The perfectly finished movement also contains beveled edges, polished steel parts, and blued screws.
