A new star shines in the sky: NightShade. Breathtakingly beautiful like a clear starry night, and just as secretive and seductive. More than any other model in the Star Collection, this newest piece of jewelry by the Glashutte Original watch manufactory justifies the sparkling name of this range of luxurious timepieces. With NightShade, the Saxon manufactory presents a feminine timepiece that masterfully unites imagination, beauty, and clever design with the traditional art of watch making.
Pure white gold is used for the case of this extravagant luxury creation. The dial crafted in solid gold is framed by a bezel set with 44 baguette-cut diamonds. A comet-like star made of diamonds trailing a tail of rays - looking like something that has come out of a fairy tale - is the eye-catcher against the black background dial.
One hundred twenty two white diamonds are set by a master's hand so that the shiny gems shine like stars in the night sky.
The panorama date with its white numerals against the black background is consciously located next to the center of the heavenly body, underscoring the comet-like dynamic of the diamond star.
A ray-shaped arrangement of diamonds also marks the off-center hour display.
The flying tourbillon at the 6 o'clock position seems like a moon in the night sky. Its artfully worked details and the small second display on the tourbillon cage represent a charming counterpart to the stars.
Crowning this exquisite work of art diamonds embellishes the case sides and a diamond 0.3 ct in weight the crown.
Shaped like an arc, accompanied by hand-engraved lines, each of the eight gemstone groups on the case sides looks like a comet tail.
A strap made of black galuchat, looking like it is quietly sparkling within the Milky Way, and a diamond-set buckle crafted in white gold complete this unmistakable masterpiece by Glashutte Original. The lavish use of precious diamonds, totaling 3.2 ct, makes this a piece to excite the senses.
Inside the NightShade tourbillon ticks automatic Caliber 93-1, impressively embodying the highest demands the art of watch making could place on the Saxon watchmakers' competence.
An exceptionally precise display of time is guaranteed in this movement by the tourbillon, which sees the balance, pallets, and escape wheel placed in a cantilevered carriage.
By revolving 360 degrees once each minute, the carriage compensates for the effects of gravity on the watch's rate. Like all manufacture movements by Glashutte Original, this one is also outfitted with the traditional elements of the Glashutte art of watch making such as the three-quarter plate decorated with Glashutte ribbing, an off-center skeletonized rotor with a 21-karat gold oscillating weight, beveled edges, polished steel parts, and blued screws.
