HYT presents the H1 Dracula DLC, a watch inspired by the unforgettable XIX century vampire Legend and the mystical bloody eclipse of Transylvania
HYT, The Hydro Mechanical Horologists, a relatively young and attractive watchmaking brand, emerged on the market back in 2012. Their first creation was launched at BaselWorld trade show, in March 2012. Ever since its beginnings, HYT continues to explore its unique and quite revolutionary concept of “hydro mechanical horology” by creating original timepieces that use liquid-filled tubes to indicate time. Each of HYT watches features a transparent tube filled with a luminescent liquid, which is pushed and drew back by two bellows. HYT uses special liquids, which are developed specifically for use in watchmaking. These are resistant to vibrations, shocks and temperature changes, and show no alteration in the long term. The bellows are also specially designed to allow for the reduction of energy required for their compression. When the liquid completes its round about the dial, the issuing pump compresses, while the bellows receiver expands, without pushing the liquid to move around too fast and damaging the meniscus.

HYT’s debuting model, the HYT H1, a robust mechanical watch with 48.8mm in diameter, was unveiled in 2012. Until today, the range has grew to include many different variants - in titanium, DLC black coated titanium, and 18k red gold. The latest creation is H1 Dracula DLC - a watch inspired by the legendary XIX century vampire of Transylvania. It symbolizes the immortal technology and evokes the mystical bloody eclipse with its unstructured red fluid on the dial and the red veins of its black alligator strap. Same as the original model, the HYT H1 Dracula DLC features two flexible reservoirs fixed to the each end of the tube. One carries a fluid filled with fluorescein, while the other contains a transparent viscous fluid. The repulsive force of the molecules keeps them separated, while a thin meniscus forms the boundary between them. The fluorescent liquid advances to show the passage of time in hour increments and, once it reaches the 6 o’clock position, it draws back to its starting position by going backward.

This dynamic process is controlled by a superior mechanical movement, which is nestled in the upper portion of the watch case. The mechanism propels a cam, which pushes the piston and activates the bellows that keep the reservoirs going in a closed, waterproof circuit – just as the gears typically drive an hour, minute or seconds hand in a regular watch. Of course, the liquid and fine metal components of the movement are kept apart to prevent the corrosion and a water-induced damage, which is possible thanks to the special design of the bellows that are made of resistant and flexible electro-deposit alloy.

The HYT H1 is available in numerous editions, from the first one with green liquid to the latest one, Gothic-inspired creation with vibrant bloody-red liquid. Its large case features a full-black DLC coating and a dark grey finish on a semi-openworked dial. The red accents can also be found on the edge of the seconds counter, on the power-reserve indicator (between 1 and 2 o’clock) and on the setting crown. The minutes are shown in a separate counter at 12 o’clock that features luminescent hands and indices. The movement beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour and provides around 65 hours of power reserve, while the construction ensures 100 meters of water resistance.
The HYT H1 Dracula DLC is available in a strictly limited edition that comprises of 50 pieces worldwide. This special edition is priced at € 54.000 Euros. Available at Harrods. Ref: 148-DL-21-RF-RU. For more information, please visit HYT website. Author: Marina Milojevic Pinterest
