Matwatches, the leading French company in the manufacture of military timepieces, introduces the Bruce Aeris Official Chronograph, a watch designed in collaboration with Iron Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson.

The official Bruce Aeris quartz chronograph is a pilot’s watch designed to commemorate Bruce piloting the band’s customized Boeing 747 jumbo jet Ed Force One. In case you didn’t know, Iron Maiden front man Bruce Dickinson is a licensed pilot, and captain of the gigantic 'Ed Force One' airplane. The amazing plane was used to transport the members of the band, their crew, and more than 20 tons of stage equipment across six continents and 35 countries on their globe-trotting Book Of Souls World Tour. The impressive transporter is named after the band's mascot, Eddie. On the inside, the plane looks quite similar to other Boeing models, except the customized Iron Maiden seat covers. But one of the things that makes Ed Force One really stand out is its Rockstar captain– Bruce Dickinson, who is also a commercial airline pilot and the owner of airline services/maintenance firm in Wales called Cardiff Aviation.

Take a tour around Iron Maiden's Ed Force One aircraft:

Speaking about this interesting collaboration, Bruce Dickinson said: “I met Fabrice from MATWATCHES a few years ago and he kindly gave me the pick of his watches as a gift. I chose what turned out to be a test pilot’s timepiece and I’ve pretty much worn it ever since - not just when I’m flying but daily! Fast forward to the start of 2016 and we came up with an Ed Force One watch as a celebration of the plane – initially as a gift from me to my bandmates – but because of the quality, practicality & collectability of it I decided to pick our favourite number (666!) and produce a strictly limited edition timepiece to commemorate an amazing tour on Ed Force One. We’re now making it available to watch collectors, 747 fans and maybe some people that know me from my day job!”

Matwatches Bruce Aeris Official Chronograph is a professional pilot’s watch that is strictly limited to 666 individually numbered exemplars. The “Iron Maiden’s favorite number” is a reference to the band’s famous song "The Number of the Beast," one of the band's most popular songs, appearing at No. 7 on VH1's 40 Greatest Metal Songs. 666 was also the call-sign of the band’s customized Boeing 757, Ed Force One, which was used for their Somewhere Back in Time World Tour between February and March 2008. A concert documentary film Iron Maiden: Flight 666 follows the band on the first leg of this worldwide tour.
