MB&F presents its new LM2 Legacy Machine, which is, just like its predecessor, the Legacy Machine N°1 (LM1), a tribute to the great innovators of traditional watchmaking: the MB&F LM2 Legacy Machine No. 2.
MB&F Legacy Machines, envisioned by Maximilian Büsser, are inspired by a pure fantasy of their author: „What would have happened if I had been born in 1867 instead of 1967?“ He realized that he would probably want to create three-dimensional machines for the wrist, but nothing like MB&F's futuristic Horological Machines... something more traditional, more classical, and definitely round-shaped...this is how the very first Legacy Machine was born. Back in 2011, MB&F made a promise that they would follow the release of each new Horological Machine with a new Legacy Machine. Last year, the brand has launched its Horological Machine 5, and now they present the new Legacy Machine No. 2.

MB&F LM2 Legacy Machine No. 2 strongly resembles the LM1. The new model has the same look and feel, mainly thanks to the oversized domed sapphire crystal and the large balance wheel that hangs above the white dial from an arched bridge. However, the new model features two balance wheels suspended above the dial, because it honors the greatest watchmakers of our history - Ferdinand Berthoud (1727-1807), Antide Janvier (1751-1835) and Abraham-Louis Breguet (1747-1823) – and the one thing they have in common - a rare watchmaking complication named dual regulator.

These historic watchmakers have used two balance wheels, placed very close together, in an attempt to make them resonant. Resonance appears as a result of two suspended pendulums of the same frequency that are swinging in the same plane. Two balance wheels are "balancing" each other out, so that an average rate would be more accurate than their independent rates. The differential transmits the average rates of the balances to a single gear train, which then transmissions the power to the time display. On LM2, the balance wheels are raised above a single dial (while the LM1 featured two independent dials), which features a planetary differential gear.

MB&F LM2 Legacy Machine No. 2 is powered by the manually wound, which provides 45 hours of power reserve and beats as 18,000 vph. The movement speed is set slightly below the average so that the wearer can see the actual oscillations of the balance wheels. The movement is nested in 44mm case diameter, which is available in 18-carat red gold and white gold versions. The brand has also announced a limited edition crafted from platinum. The standard versions are fitted with a blue dial, while the platinum version features a blue dial.

MB&F LM2 Legacy Machine No. 2 in red or white gold is priced at $156,000, while the platinum version retails at $190,000.
