SIHH 2012 has launched earlier today and all of our favorite luxury watch brands are slowly starting to unveil their new prestigious collections and models.
A watch that truly captures my attention today is made by Montblanc - Montblanc Timewriter II Bi Frequence 1,000.
The watch is a fruit of a creative project that Montblanc manufacture undergoes every two years by making a piece in collaboration with a young watchmaker. This year the brand presents a highly complicated chronograph that can be used to measure times with 1/1000th of a second precision. The only other mechanical piece able to achieve such a precision is TAG Heuer's revolutionary Mikrotimer, which was unveiled in 2011 as a concept watch.

The new Montblanc watch has a number of advantages over TAG Hewer's Mikrotimer. Not only that the development of this piece is complete and it is ready for production, but it also offers very good level of power reserve – up to 45 minutes. On this issue, Mikrotimer was significantly more inferior, having an useless level of power reserve equal to about 2 minutes. Montblanc Timewriter II Bi Frequence 1,000 uses completely different technology which makes it possible to measure such an impressive precision using a balance which oscillates at a pace of only 50 hertz.

The watch is crafted in 18-carat white gold and boasts 47-mm-diameter. The dial is completely open worked to reveal the miracle that animates the Montblanc TimeWriter II Chronographe Bi-Fréquence 1,000. Even though it may look busy on first look, this watch is extremely easy to read as it follows the classic pattern used for ordinary chronographs.
The Montblanc TimeWriter II Chronographe Bi-Fréquence 1,000 will be manufactured in a limited edition of thirty-six watches to pay a homage to the year 1936 when Minerva built the world’s first ultra-fast stopwatch and got a mention in the Guinness Book of Records.
The TimeWriter II was realized by the Hispano-Swiss watchmaker Bartomeu Gomila at Montblanc’s ateliers in Villeret under the aegis of master watchmaker Demetrio Cabiddu.
