Swarovski AG, the famous Austrian fashion design company, known for its luxury cut lead glass, was one of the exhibitors at this year’s BaselWorld watch and jewelry show.
The brand, which is known as one of the world’s premier jewelry and accessory brands, presented an array of pieces designed for the modern and multifaceted woman. The brand combined its long-standing mastery of crystal cutting with modern designs to create three new brand lines, and some fresh new variations to its cult favorite models. What captured our attention the most is the first automatic ladies’ watch designed by Swarovski.

Swarovski Crystalline Hours, a watch that prides of being the first self-winding timepiece designed by Swarovski for women, represents an evolution of the Crystalline line. The watch is designed in collaboration with the famous Swiss watch designer Eric Giroud, who designed some of the world’s most intriguing watches such as Opus 9 by Harry Winston, HM No.1 by MB&F, or Sequential One by MCT Watches.

Swarovski’s Creative Director, Nathalie Colin, explained how the new Swarovski Crystalline Hours timepiece came to life: “When we started the design phase, we wondered how to feature as many crystals as possible within such a limited space, without compromising on the understated elegance of the watch. We came up with this idea to reverse proportions and elaborate a transparent case which would allow a front and back view of both the movement and the crystals. I love the idea that not everything get revealed at the first glance, it is more mysterious”.

Swarovski Crystalline Hours features a curvy domed case, and a round face, decorated with no less than 4000 small faceted crystals that sparkle with every move of the wrist. This Swiss made watch measures 38mm in diameter, and it is 20mm thick. Its delicate and elegant design brings a hint of 40’s watch inspiration, complementing both casual and luxurious attire, and making a bold and captivating statement either way. The watch is available on either white or black leather strap with embossed crocodile motif. The case is crafted from stainless steel, and available in either natural or rose-gold coated version. Swarovski Crystalline Hours is water resistant to 50 meters. The watch retails at $1,250.
