Calibre 600P - The Thinnest Tourbillon Watch Movement Ever Made

Posted 1 year, 6 months ago

Once again, Piaget made it happen, with the thinnest manually wound movement with a tourbillon escapement.

Аmong the complication movements, the most difficult to master is the tourbillon regulator. Stemming from Piaget’s mastery of ultra-thin movements, but also from the company’s determination to consistently push the limits, Calibre 600P is the thinnest tourbillon movement in the world (a mere 3.5 millimetres). Its carriage is particularly sophisticated, composed of 42 miniscule parts, including three titanium bridges, and weighing in at just 0.2 grammes. The flying tourbillon, mounted on a single axis, is topped by the initial “P”, which adds to the complexity of the poising. To ensure maximum precision, the assembly and casing up of each 600P is entrusted to a single watchmaker.

In the historical workshop in La Côte-aux-Fées on the Geneva site, the watchmakers and jewellers of the Piaget Manufacture share the same enthusiasm in bringing some of the world's boldest creations to life. Striving to outdo themselves, to push the limits of achievement, Piaget's engineers, designers and master watchmakers worked 12 additional months to conceive this light, refined, and spectacular variation on the most emblematic complication movement.

Their first attempt is set in 18 carat rose gold and diamonds encrusted into the mailplate, and looks are set to enter the Piaget Emperador kind of rectangular watch cases.
