Montre Passion awarded the 2010 Watch of the Year awards. First place was awarded to Bulgari's Octo Biretrograde steel- ceramic watch. These finalists are selected from hundreds of watches that were offered in the Swiss market during the previous year and then are further examined by a jury of watchmaking professionals.
In second place, Patek Philippe's Annual Calendar reference number 5205. Other finalists include Miss Golden Bridge of Corum and Upside Down Number One by Ludovic Ballouard. An online vote was conducted by Montre Passion as well. The public voted Duomètre à Quantième Lunaire the 2010 Watch of the Year.
The Bulgari Octo Bi-Retro luxury watch is the most interesting offering from Bulgari this year. The watch comes in a generously sized 43 mm case, with a bold satin-finished black ceramic bezel. Timepiece utilizes the GG7722 automatic caliber, with jumping hours functions, and a pair of retrograde hands to indicate minutes and dates. The delicate mechanism is beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour, and provides at least 45 hours of power reserve.
A large window at 12 o’clock shows the jumping hours, the retrograde minute hand travels over a 210° arc, while the retrograde date is shown on a 180° arc at the bottom of the dial.
The Bulgari Octo Bi-Retro features a well-ballanced cholor scheme enhanced with a touch or red, used to print he caliber mark at 6 o’clock. The strap is made of textured rubber, in a segmented style with a folding clasp.
