The Glowing Urushi is made using the updated “Email Lumineuse” technique, developed by this brand in 2004. The watchmakers of Angular Momentum have combined traditional techniques of enameling with non-radioactive organic sulfate. Perhaps some of you remember the Montre Guilloche Lumineuse, launched by the brand about a year ago. This watch was made by using the same technique - fusing the Japan lacquer with luminous organic sulfates.
Angular Momentum Glowing Urushi
To make a dial of Glowing Urushi, watchmakers form Angular Momentum have mixed organic blue luminous sulfate with titanium white and Nashiji Urushi, which is the most transparent Urushi lacquer derived from the sap of old tree branches. The enamel is then applied with spatula forming Clou de Paris guilloché, and dried at a constant temperature upside down – to allow the heavy particles of sulfate to accumulate on the surface. This step in the process of production reveals the main difference between this watch and the one released last year: even though they look similar, Email Lumineuse can only be applied on horizontal surfaces, while the Glowing Urushi’s consistency makes it perfect even for vertical surfaces or round objects.
The watch is crafted in staybrite steel and boasts 28 millimeters in diameter. It uses historical 1960 new-old stock manual winding movement A 1703, and provides about 49 hours of power reserve.
