Once again, Audemars Piguet has joined its forces with Italian jewelry designer Carolina Bucci for a precious new version of Royal Oak Frosted Gold. Carolina Bucci’s original 2016 Frosted Gold design was first released by Audemars Piguet in 2016. Originally, the model arrived in 37mm and 33mm versions in both white and rose gold, powered by automatic caliber 3120 and quartz movement, respectively. Last year, the generously proportioned men’s version of the Royal Oak Frosted Gold was introduced for the very first time, and now Carolina Bucci returns with a special eponymous 37mm limited edition Royal Oak in yellow gold.
Carolina Bucci’s new creation is, for the first time, presented in yellow gold, which is the designer’s favorite hue of the precious metal. The case and the bracelet are adorned with the delicate diamond dust finish, while a silver-toned mirror replaces the iconic Tapisserie Royal Oak dial.
“With the first Frosted Gold design, I took the perfection of the Royal Oak case and bracelet and ‘roughed them up’ a little, juxtaposing the perfectly imperfect Florentine finish with Swiss watchmaking precision. Now I’m doing the opposite, taking the textured surface of the ‘Tapisserie’ dial and flattening it out into a perfectly smooth mirror. The motive for both is to create something interesting and unpredictable. It’s a fresh take on an icon made in the image of a contemporary woman. I know women with a great eye for keynote accessories who are going to love this. The mirror is always interacting with its environment, ever-changing according to what clothes you’re wearing, the décor of the room, the lighting, the time of day, the weather.”
The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Frosted Gold Carolina Bucci is powered by the in-house caliber 3120, beating at a frequency of 21,600 vph. The movement’s functions include hours, minutes and date. Luminescent coating is applied to hour markers and hands, while the case protects the movement from water to 50 meters of death.
The special new Royal Oak Frosted Gold Carolina Bucci, reference 15454BA.GG.1259BA.02, is presented in a Bucci designed mirrored box bearing frosted gold Audemars Piguet insignia. Available in only 300 examples exclusive to Audemars Piguet boutiques, the watch comes with a price tag of $53,600.
