Breitling's new Chronoliner Limited Series belongs to the recently introduced Chronoliner range, which made its debut in 2015. The Chronoliner series is strongly influenced by the watch designs from the 50’s and 60’s. This modern, aviation themed watch with a vintage appeal asserts itself as an authentic captain’s watch, worthy to be worn by the most important man that commands the aircraft.
Breitling Chronoliner is quite a large piece, measuring 46 millimeters in diameter, which is a common size for Breitling’s watches nowadays. The vintage-style case is completed with piston chronograph pushers and a black panda dial with white sub-counters. The architecture of the dial reveals that the registers are positioned at 6, 9, and 12 instead of 3, 6, and 9, while the features a 24-hour scale instead of 12. Another fixed 24-hour scale is printed on the dial, allowing the wearer to track time in three separate time zones.
The skillful wearer could use his Chronoliner in many different ways: to measure flight times, to juggle with the time around the world, to distinguish between day and night… The second timezone is indicated by a red-tipped central hand, while the third time zone could be read off via rotating bezel.
In 2016, Breitling Chronoliner arrives in a 250-piece limited series. The watch is crafted from 18-karat red gold, and topped with an ultra-hard, scratch-resistant bezel in black ceramic. The signature feature of the Chronoliner is its broad bezel made of this high-tech synthetic material, which features an original star-shaped cut-out that simplifies handling.
The Chronoliner is powered by Breitling Caliber 24, which is a COSC-certified self-winding movement beating at a high-frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. The watch is mounted on 25 jewels, and is water resistant to 100 m (330 ft).
