Girard-Perregaux 1966 Minute Repeater, Annual Calendar & Equation of Time limited edition
Girard-Perregaux has just unveiled a wonderful new 1966 model endowed with three eminent watchmaking complications. The new Girard-Perregaux 1966 Minute Repeater, Annual Calendar & Equation of Time watch is amazingly complex and yet it showcases all of its various functions in a perfect harmony and in an ultimate visual balance. The watch has a silvered sunburst dial embraced by solid gold applique hour-markers. There are hours and minutes indicators, a date window placed at 1:30 position, the Annual Calendar function is shown in a sub-counter located between 12 and 3 o’clock, and a month display window located at opposite position.

Same as any annual calendar watch, the new Girard-Perregaux 1966 Minute Repeater, Annual Calendar & Equation of Time requires one adjustment of the date per year, each February. The indicator at 4:30 is the Equation of Time display that shows the difference between civil time and solar time. A Minute Repeater is hidden from the eye but it enables the user to hear the striking of the hours, quarter-hours and minutes. To achieve a crystalline sound and produce vibration, the case-back of the watch is slightly curved, which increases the volume of air between the movement and the case. There’s also a sapphire glass on the case-back, revealing the manually wound mechanical caliber Girard-Perregaux E09-0003. When fully wound this mechanism provides 100 hours of power reserve, which is enough to keep the watch running for 4 days, without the need for adjustment. The movement, which beats at 21,600 vib/h, is assembled from 419 components and built on 48 jewels.

Girard-Perregaux 1966 Minute Repeater, Annual Calendar & Equation of Time is crafted from polished pink gold and it measures 42mm in diameter. The dial is made from brass and it features pink gold appliques and hands. Leaf, batton and arrow shaped hands are coated in diamond powder piece by piece , while the sapphire crystal features an anti-reflective coating.

Girard-Perregaux 1966 Minute Repeater, Annual Calendar & Equation of Time is issued under the reference number 99651-52-131-BKBA and available in a strictly limited edition of only 15 exemplars.

One of the most interesting astronomical watches of the year is the Girard-Perregaux Cosmos, a watch that made it to the GPHG’s list of pre-selected watches in the Calendar and Astronomy category.
