Cat’s Eye Tourbillon with Gold Bridge
For the end of 2014, the manufacture of Girard-Perregaux presents another brilliant sequel to its iconic Cat’s Eye collection, the glorious Cat’s Eye Tourbillon with Gold Bridge, which is a model dedicated to all ladies who love and appreciate beauty in watchmaking. The Cat’s Eye Tourbillon with Gold Bridge unites two of the finest crafts: the high-end watchmaking and the art of creating decorative items for personal adornment. The feminine curves of this highly complicated mechanical timepiece are adorned with 308 brilliant-cut diamonds, which have been skillfully arranged all over its bezel, to the lugs, and on the crown.
The natural white mother-of-pearl dial is encased in white gold housing, which takes the emblematic oval shape, which is the characteristic signature mark of the Cat’s Eye collection. The dial is hand-polished and decorated with a delicate raised motif. Elegant leaf-shaped hands float above its surface, accentuating the floral motif engraved in relief.
The most magnificent detail appears at 6 o’clock position – the iconic Girard-Perregaux Tourbillon under the Gold Bridge, which also serves as a small second indicator. The bridge features soft engravings inspired by flowers and leaves. The tourbillon is added to the mechanics of the watch escapement to improve accuracy of its manually wound caliber GP09700-0012. This is the in-house mechanism assembled by hand from 174 individual components and 20 jewels. It beats at 21.600 vibrations per hour and promises at least 70 hours of power reserve.
The movement is finished according to the highest standards of fine watchmaking, and partially revealed through the sapphire crystal case-back: the tourbillon is hand-polished and engraved, the bridge is polished and adorned with Geneva stripes, while the rhodium-plated main plate features circular-grained and beveled hollows.
Girard-Perregaux Cat’s Eye Tourbillon with Gold Bridge is mounted on a red alligator leather strap with white gold folding buckle set with 14 brilliant-cut diamonds, ~0,118 ct. Every watch with a reference 99490D53P703-CKHA comes with an additional black alligator leather strap.
