Depeche Mode and Hublot announced together in Berlin on March 18, 2013, a fundraising initiative to benefit bringing safe drinking water to the developing world.
The initiative is part of the Depeche Mode 2013-2014 Delta Machine Tour. Hublot has designed a special watch especially for this collaboration – the Limited Edition Big Bang Depeche Mode. A part of the proceeds from the sale of this exclusive timepiece will go directly to charity: water. This exciting collaboration is not the first of its kind. In 2010, Hublot and Depeche Mode raised funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust and auctioned 12 exclusive boxed sets, each containing a unique Hublot watch with the cover of one of Depeche Mode’s 12 studio albums on its dial, along with the vinyl and digital version of each album, a golden framed CD and autographed stills.
This year’s collaboration brings a limited series of 250 timepieces crafted from black ceramic. Each of the watches embodies the dark aesthetic of Depeche Mode. The watch measures 44mm in diameter and features an interesting "Clous Pyramide" decoration on the bezel. The openworked case-back, made from sapphire crystal and black ceramic features "Depeche Mode" and "Charity: Water" logo transfers. It reveals the automatic mechanical Aerobang chronograph movement HUB4214, which beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour. Hublot Big Bang Depeche Mode is water resistant to 100 meters and it provides about 42 hours of power reserve. The dial is graced with applique indexes in the form of Clous Pyramide decoration, which repeats on the heat moulded calfskin strap as well.
Hublot Big Bang Depeche Mode comes in a limited series of 250 individually numbered watches. The model is issued under the reference number 311.CI.1170.VR.DPM13.
