Hublot is launching a new feminine series of watches inspired by the famous challenge to traditions of fine art – Pop Art! Introducing Hublot Big Bang Pop Art for ladies.
Pop art , an art movement that appeared in the mid-1950s in Britain and flourished much later during the 1960s in America, is possibly the most popular art movement of the modern times. It started as an uprising against traditional aesthetic norms, as some kind of a reflective return to the realities that people create on their own – a comeback to everyday life and popular culture. The style and aesthetic codes of pop art are sourced from visual expressions and likings of everyday people, as they appear in mass-media – from comics, illustration magazines and television. In pop art, the material is pulled out from its original context in order to be isolated or combined it with unrelated material, offering a completely new angle for contemplation. This concept is not about the art itself but rather about the attitudes that lead to art. The predominant colors of pop art are yellow, red and blue, but Hublot offers its own Pop Art explosion of color in four vibrant shades - Pink, blue, purple, and apple green.

Announced as the very first in the world of haute horlogerie, Hublot Big Bang Pop Art collection evokes the look of silkscreen printings, as seen in the experimental works of Andy Warhol. This technique, that allows printing on almost all objects with plain surface, uses a stencil that blocks certain areas of the canvas, while the other areas are painted through. The screen-printing method has allowed Warhol to create his famous series of prints, without altering the original image beyond the choice of colors. In such a way, the artist was able to convey different sensations only by using the controls to adjust the colors.

Similarly, four new Pop Art watches from Hublot are altering the famous Big Bang in unpredictable, playful ways, each giving their own answer to the question on how does the color influence our moods. The Pop Art models are crafted in gold or stainless steel, and they arrive in the iconic Big Bang case of 41mm in diameter. Their polished bezels are set with 48 baguette-cut precious stones: topaz for the blue variant, amethyst for the purple, sapphire for the pink version and tsavorites for the green. The dials are graced with colorful counters, to evoke the look of a painter's palette.

Hublot Big Bang Pop Art watches are powered by the self-winding movement HUB 4300, which runs on 40-hour power reserve. The movement is sealed against the ingress of water to up to 100 meters, and it provides indications for hours, minutes and date. The Pop Art watches are mounted on colored alligator straps, which are sewn onto tone-on-tone rubber. Each of the watches from Hublot’s Big Bang Pop Art series is issued in a limited edition of 200 pieces worldwide.
