Hublot has launched the Official Watch of this year's FIFA World Cup, which is also the very first Hublot watch equipped with a bi-retrograde function – the Hublot Big Bang Unico Bi-Retrograde Chrono.
Hublot’s new Big Bang Unico Bi-Retrograde Chrono is a watch specially designed for the world of football. This unusual chronograph utilizes a special watch movement that pays homage to the 2014 FIFA World Cup. The new automatic HUB 1260 in-house movement is equipped with a bi-retrograde function (never before produced by Hublot) along with a central chronograph, patent pending.
When the chronograph is triggered, its second hand and minute hand move from left to right in a circular arc of 45 minutes, which is a length of one half of a football match, within an area for 15 minutes' added time up to 60 minutes. Two pushers, on either sides of the crown, are used to start, stop and reset the chronograph, while the pusher at 2 o’clock shows one of the selected periods of time: 1st half, half time, 2nd half, and end of match. The selected periods are indicated by a window positioned at 12 o’clock.
Hublot’s HUB1260 UNICO Manufacture self-winding Bi-retrograde movement with central chrono is made from 385 components and 44 jewels. Thanks to the careful choice of materials and functions, the movement is fine-tuned to consume as little energy as possible, while running on about 72 hours of power reserve, despite the rapid movements of the hands. A glance at the dial reveals two permanently rotating hour and minutes hands, in a same counter at 6 o'clock, while the seconds are shown via small sector-shaped counter; at 9 o’clock.
The dial is decorated with yellow and green highlights, evoking the national colors of Brazil – a country in which FIFA World Cup takes place this year. The watch is a classic Big Bang Unico model, housed in a 45.5 mm diameter case. It features an octagonal bezel secured with 6 H-shaped screws, and the “One click” system that allows the wearer to switch between a choice of straps.
Hublot Big Bang Unico Bi-Retrograde Chrono is available in two different variants: an 18K King Gold version with carbon fiber bezel limited to 100 pieces and a black ceramic version, also with a carbon fiber bezel, which is limited to 200 numbered pieces. Both watches are water resistant to 100 meters and they are delivered on a structured and ribbed natural black rubber strap.
Hublot Big Bang Unico Bi-Retrograde Chrono is referenced as 412.CQ.1127.RX for Ceramic Carbon version, or as 412.OQ.1128.RX, for King Gold Carbon variant.
