For Geneva Days 2016, the house of Hublot releases two football-inspired limited editions of its famous Big Bang Unico Retrograde Chronograph Model. One of them celebrates the UEFA Euro 2016, while the other is dedicated to the UEFA Champions League.
In this way, Hublot marks the 10th anniversary of its Hublot loves football program, honoring all of the clubs, coaches, players, and world cups that have been collaborating with the brand for all these years. To remind, Hublot has been collaborating with some of the world’s major players such as Pelé, Mourinho, Shaqiri, Scolari, Roy Hodgson, Alex Ferguson, and David Trézéguet. Some of them are Hublot’s official ambassadors, while the others are friends of the brand. The clubs, such as Ajax, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain, are also part of the “Hublot loves football” world campaign.
As Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO of Hublot, explains: “Hublot and football, it all began in 2006 with Michel Pont who came to see us to talk about a partnership with the ‘Nati’ (Swiss national football team). His first words were: “I don’t understand why no watchmaker is a partner with the Swiss team.” This question immediately found an answer with Hublot. A few months later, the 60 members of the Swiss team all had a Big Bang ASF limited edition on their wrists when they flew off to the World Cup in Germany. A real success that led to many others. The story of Hublot and football is one of natural fusion, it’s obvious really! 10 years later, our loyalty and our love of football are still intact. Football makes Hublot tick! Hublot loves football!”
In 2016, as the Official Watch for the UEFA EURO 2016, and UEFA Champions League, Hublot releases two rare mechanical chronographs for timing football matches. Both models are limited to 100 pieces worldwide. The UEFA EURO 2016 watch is the official watch of the famous competition, which will take place in France from 10 June to 10 July 2016. The Big Bang Unico Retrograde Chronograph sports the of France, red, white and blue, it features a 45mm case in black ceramic, which is fitted with a “One click” interchangeable strap system.
The UEFA Champions League Watch is the official licensed watch of the competition, a second limited edition of 100 pieces featuring the Unico retrograde chronograph movement. The HUB1261 movement is visible through a sapphire case-back, which also bears the UEFA Euro 2016 or UEFA Champions League insignia. This spectacular movement features a bi-retrograde module which enables it to time a football match. The module is designed to time two halves of 45 minutes, and extra time, allowing a total of 60 minutes. A dedicated pusher, placed at 2 o’clock, activates the mechanism, while the aperture in the center indicates the ongoing period (1 — first half/ ½ break / 2 - second half, END – end of the game). The local time is displayed on a counter at 6 o’clock.
The Manufacture UNICO HUB1261 bi-retrograde movement with automatic winding provides 72 hours of power reserve, and it is sealed against the ingress of water to up to 100 meters. The UEFA Champions League (413.CX.7123.LR.UCL16) was unveiled for the first time during the first leg play-off matches on 18 August 2015, while the UEFA EURO 2016 (413.CX.7123.LR.EUR16) timepiece debuts on the 10 June 2016.
