Hublot, the art of Fusion concept in Watchmaking, combining exotic materials in Swiss watches.
On the occasion of the BaselWorld watch and jewelry show, the house of Hublot unveiled a new, most elegant version of its flagship Classic Fusion model. This time, the famous Classic Fusion is designed in collaboration with Berluti, the prestigious company specialized in the production of luxury shoes and boots, and known for its unique craftsmanship and leather finishing. By the virtue of special mineral and vegetable tanning, Berluti mastered the art of the color of time. Each pair of Berluti’s shoes is completely unique and their colors are imbued with extraordinary depth.
After jeans and lace, Hublot dresses its dials and bracelets in leather. As always, the brand wanted to go one step further and use the most emblematic leather there is – so Berluti was a natural choice. This very special edition of the Hublot Classic Fusion timepiece also celebrates the Parisian shoemaker’s 120th anniversary. In the words of Antoine Arnault, Berluti CEO: "After dressing the Berluti man from head to toe, we collaborated with Hublot to create the perfect watch to complete the silhouette. Both brands share the same level of expertise and a common passion for excellence."
Hublot Classic Fusion Berluti is available in two versions, both limited editions. Each of them is created using organic leather for the strap and dial. In the words of Ricardo Guadalupe, Hublot CEO, dial was especially hard to create, since using a living material in a sealed case is very complicated. Another significant challenge was to find the perfect balance between the shades of the dial and the strap.
The Classic Fusion straps have been created using the same time-honored process as the one used in production of Berluti shoe leather: from patterning, shaping, cutting and assembling the pieces of leather, to the mounting of the strap and lacquering. The Classic Fusion Berluti All Black model, reference number 511.CM.0500.VR.BER16, has a nero grigio Venezia handmade strap inspired by the art of scarification. The strap is marked with the Berluti’s signature Gaspard incision. The black model is housed in black ceramic case, and it arrives in a limited edition of 500 pieces. The watch is priced at 13,900 Swiss Francs.
Classic Fusion Berluti Scrito, reference number 511.OX.0500.VR.BER16, is mounted on a strap made of Venezia Scritto calf leather, inspired by the 18th century calligraphy. The strap features subtle leather engravings, hand-made by the artist Olga Berluti. The tobacco hued leather model is housed in a case made of King Gold. The model is available in a limited edition of 250 pieces. The watch is priced at 27,900 Swiss Francs.
Both Hublot Classic Fusion Berluti watches measure 45mm in diameter and they are fitted with Hublot’s Caliber HUB1100, mechanical self-winding movement. The mechanism is assembled from 63 components and 21 jewels, and it beats at a frequency of 28800 vibrations per hour. The cases are fitted with a see-through back, and water resistant to 50 meters.
