Hublot has opened its first boutique in Latin America, a couple of days ago. To mark the occasion, the famous Swiss brand has created a new Classic Fusion Aero Chronograph dedicated to Edson Arantes do Nascimento, better known as Pelé!
Pelé, a retired Brazilian footballer, is one of the greatest-ever sportsmen on the planet. He is widely regarded as the best player of all time. Pelé was chosen "Athlete of the Century" by the IOC, and he also appears on Time magazine's list of 100 most influential people of the past century. Last year, Pelé received the FIFA Ballon d'Or Prix d'Honneur in recognition of his career and achievements, and was announced as Hublot’s is the Ambassador of the brand for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
Hublot Classic Fusion Chrono Aero Pelé is an exclusive watch issued in just 500 pieces. The chronograph is crafted from black ceramic, and it measures 45mm in diameter. Thanks to the sapphire dial, with faceted and polished indices, the HUB 1155 Automatic mechanical Aero Hublot chronograph movement is fully revealed from the watch face. The dial features centrally-positioned hours and minutes hands, a yellow central chronograph hand, a 30 minute subdial at 9 o’clock and specially designed 60 minute subdial at 3 o’clock, which reminds of a football ball. The date function is provided via the disc with a yellow lacquered number 10, recalling the Pelé’s iconic number 10 shirt.
The case-back is fitted with a sapphire crystal, which is decorated with Pelé's famous signature in yellow and a transferred image of his silhouette in black. Hublot Classic Fusion Chrono Aero Pelé is mounted on a unique football-themed black calfskin strap with yellow stitching. The watch water resistant to 100 meters and it runs on 42-hour power reserve.
