Hublot presents the official watch of the Los Angeles Lakers!
A couple of days ago, at a gala dinner in Los Angeles, California, Hublot unveiled its first timepiece designed for the Los Angeles Lakers – the King Power Los Angeles Lakers timepiece, the official watch of the LA’s basketball team. Hublot became the Official Timekeeper of the Los Angeles Lakers in January 2013, and since then it has launched two timepieces with Lakers’ star player Kobe Bryant - the King Power Black Mamba and the King Power Black Mamba King Gold. The newest addition to the King Power range is the first timepiece with the Los Angeles Lakers, and it comes in a special limited series that consists of 50 numbered exemplars.
The Hublot King Power Los Angeles Lakers is a masculine and sporty watch made of black carbon fiber. The watch measures 48mm in diameter and it features a transparent sapphire dial with yellow and purple highlights. The color scheme is obviously inspired by the LA Lakers team colors, while many other details also reveal notable references to the American professional basketball team: the dial is sliced to four zones of 12 minutes in black, yellow and purple, the Los Angeles Lakers logo appears at 3 o’clock, while the sapphire case-back reveals the Lakers’ signature…
Hublot King Power Los Angeles Lakers is powered by the mechanical self-winding chronograph movement HUB 4248, with central 48-minute counter. This means that this special watch is designed to measure a time interval to a maximum of 48 minutes, which is the exact length of a professional basketball match. In addition to basic time-telling function and its chronograph role, the movement also informs the wearer about the current date, via small trapezoidal window at 4:30. The HUB 4248 movement is built from 249 parts and 28 jewels, it beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour, and provides around 42 hours of power reserve. Thanks to the special sealing, the watch can withstand the pressure of water to up to 100 meters (10 ATM).
Hublot King Power Los Angeles Lakers is delivered with two interchangeable straps – one real yellow Lakers jersey on black rubber with yellow and purple stitching and one gummy alligator sewed on black rubber with yellow and purple stitching. Both straps are fitted with a deployant buckle clasp in micro-blasted black PVD titanium and ceramic. The reference 748.QX.1199.NR.LAK14 Hublot King Power Los Angeles Lakers timepieces are priced at $27,900. This limited edition series is available for purchase exclusively at the Hublot boutique in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles.
