Be Water, My Friend - The Legend of Bruce Lee Memorial Exhibition and the second limited edition timepiece.
Earlier today, the Swiss watchmaker Hublot held a grand opening ceremony to celebrate the official inauguration of its Boutique in SKP Beijing. To mark this special occasion, which represents another milestone for Hublot in the Chinese market, Hublot has, once again, partnered with the Bruce Lee Foundation. Together, they will hold the special "Be Water, My Friend - Legend of Bruce Lee Memorial Exhibition" from 1st to 6th March 2016, in Beijing SKP. The exhibition, set inside the Beijing’s high-end commercial landmark, is infused with Bruce Lee’s philosophy. It showcases a number of Bruce Lee’s personal belongings, as well as a variety of Hublot limited edition timepieces, including the second limited edition Big Bang Bruce Lee Be Water.
As Loic Biver, the Brand Director for Hublot China, explained: "As an icon of the 20th century and the most iconic Kung Fu star in history, Bruce Lee embodies the real 'art of fusion' of East-West culture. Following the Bruce Lee 75th anniversary Memorial Exhibition held in Hong Kong, HUBLOT is honored to join hands with Bruce Lee Foundation again to hold a memorial exhibition in China, here in Beijing and release the second limited edition timepiece, as a tribute to this legendary icon. ”
The exhibition displays personal items belonging to Bruce Lee, including a Tang-style Kung Fu jacket that carries the martial arts spirit of Bruce Lee, a genuine copy of the “Way of the Dragon” script, a replica of the life mask of Kato in “The Green Hornet“, and the business card for the Bruce Lee Martial Arts Studio founded by Bruce Lee. There is also a presentation of the most representative classic photos of Bruce Lee, as well as the « Bruce Lee Mirror”, a cylindrical glass photo frame featuring Bruce Lee’s classic kung fu postures.
The new Spirit of Big Bang Bruce Lee Be Water limited edition timepiece is presented in an all-black tonneau-shaped case made from micro blasted ceramic. The skeleton dial reveals a décor inspired by the dragon pattern on Bruce Lee’s desk. The color scheme evokes the interior of Hublot’s SKP Beijing boutique, which features the brand-specific black color, the dark gray carpet and the black leather furniture, combined with the glass and metal counters. The timepiece is fitted with HUB4700 automatic winding skeletonized movement, which offers a 50-hour power reserve. The watch has a date display window located at 4:30 o’clock, and the chronograph displays for seconds at 9 o’clock, minutes at 3 o’clock and hours at 6 o’clock. The blue details are symbolizing the Bruce Lee’s philosophy of water.
The Hublot the Spirit of Big Bang Bruce Lee Be Water limited edition watch, reference number 601. CI. 1190. LR. BLF16, is mounted on a black rubber and a blue alligator strap with blue stitching. The watch is water resistant to up to 100 meters, and it features a solid case-back engraved with "SPECIAL"+"EDITION" number. This exclusive timepiece is available in 100 exemplars worldwide.
