The house of TAG Heuer has just announced the launch its first modular luxury connected watch bearing the Swiss Made label! The Connected Modular 45 concept designates that the connected module, which is, actually, the whole case of a smartwatch, is interchangeable with a mechanical module - 3 hands or Chronograph Tourbillon COSC certified!
The concept of modularity also extends on the dial, lugs, strap, and buckle, making the Connected Modular 45 a luxury watch which can be completely personalized to suit your mood.
The TAG Heuer Connected Modular 45 is designed in collaboration with Intel Corporation and Google, and it features GPS for your journeys and sporting performance, an NFC sensor for payments, and a high definition AMOLED screen. The watch is powered by an Intel® Atom™ processor Z34XX series and operates on Android WearTM 2.0.
Available in a vast choice of materials and colors, including titanium, ceramic, and rose gold, the Connected Modular 45 is offered with a wide selection of customizable TAG Heuer dials. The watch is water resistant to 50 meters, and compatible with Android Wear 2.0 and the new TAG Heuer Companion app. The watch features 4GB of storage memory and runs on a lithium battery that provides more than a full day of power. It also features a small water resistant microphone, and a sapphire crystal touchscreen, to be used alongside the command crown at 3 o'clock.
The connected watch has been designed and engineered in the TAG Heuer Manufacture, in La Chaux-de-Fonds, earning the "Swiss Made" label, the ultimate guarantee of the highest standards of Swiss quality. The watch is a Carrera model, measuring an elegant 45 mm in diameter, while the lugs, strap, buckle and the case are interchangeable.
No less than 56 different versions are available, made from satin or polished grade 5 titanium, or plated with 18K 5N rose gold, or in black ceramic, with or without diamonds. A selection of 11 standard models is already available at TAG Heuer’s doors worldwide, and another 45 are available on request. For the choice of strap alone, there are no less than 18 different options available, including rubber, natural leather or anthracite grey leather, titanium or ceramic.
The brand has developed 30 different dials, including some which are inspired by historical models, such as the famous panda dial. In addition, the TAG Heuer Studio dial configurator also offers customers the chance to create their own combination of colors, metals, the details in SuperLuminova, and the lacquered tips.
The interactive counters on the connectible watch are fully customizable, so you can chose to display up to three of your favorite apps: pedometer, calories burned, the currency rates, free time before the next meeting, or something else. The new Companion app acts like a personal assistant, helping you to remember important meetings and organize your day.

A Swiss mechanical movement module is sold separately, which means that you can start with a connected module and then upgrade it to a 3-hands calibre 5, or the manufacture chronograph Tourbillon Heuer 02-T, with a titanium and carbon case, COSC certified. By purchasing an additional module, you can easily change the heart of your watch and transform it from a smartwatch to a classic mechanical watch, and back again.
As of today, the watches will be on sale in TAG Heuer boutiques, from a selection of retailers, or available for delivery via the brand's online webstore. The TAG Heuer Connected Modular 45 is on sale from 1690 CHF, 1650 USD (ex.VAT).
A Deluxe box set including a connected watch (in grade 5 titanium, with titanium lugs and brown natural leather strap), complete with the prestigious COSC-certified chronograph Heuer-02T tourbillon mechanical module, plus an additional black rubber strap is available for a total price of 17,900 CHF/17,000 USD (ex.VAT).
