The Grande Seconde SW watch is a redesigned, sporty version of the Maison’s iconic Grande Seconde watch. Even though its name includes abbreviation SW, which stands for the “sports watch,” this is not a typical sport watch, but rather a sport-themed watch in terms of its design. The first ladies’ watch of the Grande Seconde SW series is crafted from stainless steel and it measures 41mm in diameter. Announced as a timepiece of radiant modernity, the new Grande Seconde SW Lady celebrates the spirit of sports with a feminine touch. Dedicated to refined, yet active ladies, the oversized body of the new Grande Seconde SW Lady is set with 40 sparkling diamonds of the finest quality.
The traditional figure eight layout – a symbol of infinity, balance and achievement and the ultimate touchstone of the Manufacture Jaquet Droz – which has always been present on the dial of the Grande Seconde, has also been incorporated into the fresh new design. Two superimposed subdials, forming the magical numeral, celebrate the poetry of the symbolism in one of the brand’s major, magical, numerological references.
For the very first time in a version set with diamonds, the new Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde SW Lady reveals a delicate mother-of-pearl disc embraced by 40 sparkling gemstones set on the fluted bezel. Shimmering effects and the play of light interact with alternating finishes of the case, which is both brushed and polished, while the horns have been hollowed for greater lightness. The blued steel hands, running across the traced Arabic and Roman numerals, are partially coated in Super-LumiNova, to facilitate reading of the time in low light conditions. This contemporary and sporty watch is water resistant to 50 meters and mounted on a violet alligator leather strap. The case back is fitted with a sapphire crystal, to allow the wearer to admire the gorgeously decorated movement. The secret signature of Jaquet Droz, a cloverleaf, appears engraved on the movement, alongside a sunray-polished Côtes de Genève motif.
Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde SW Lady, reference number J029020270, appears to be offered in a non-limited edition. The watch is powered by the Jaquet Droz 2663A- self-winding mechanical movement with ruthenium treatment, a double barrel, and 18-carat white gold oscillating weight. The movement is built on 30 jewels and it beats at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. In addition to off-centered hours and minutes, and large seconds sub-dial, the watch offers about 68 hours of power reserve. Total carat weight is 40 diamonds of 0.86 carats.
