The house of Jaquet Droz introduces its latest feminine creation, the Petite Minute Astorite. In its latest rendition, the Maison’s cult model, Petite Heure Minute, arrives in a special, limited edition inspired by romantic feelings and tenderness of Valentine ’s Day. The dial of this exquisite new creation is made from astorite, a gorgeous pink colored gemstone that is only found in Colorado, in a mine located 12,000 feet above sea level, in an avalanche chute. The mineral is named after John Astor, a famous American businessman and one of the wealthiest Americans of the 19th century. The solid, hand-polished piece used for this spectacular dial, is sourced from the Colorado mine that once belonged to Astor, who perished on the Titanic.
The iconic Petite Heure Minute, a model that has for long been a playing field for the craftsmen of the Maison, is immediately recognized by its off-center hours and minutes subdial at 12 o’clock. Perpetuating its grand tradition of embellishing dials with precious materials, the artists of Jaquet Droz have chosen to work with astorite, a rare gem from the United States. Its gentle shade of pink, evocative of love and tender feelings, sparkles with gold and silver inclusions, embracing the gentle white mother-of-pearl sub-dial.
Jaquet Droz Petite Heure Minute Astorite is crafted from red gold and it measures 35mm in diameter. The pink of the astorite reflects the richness of the red gold case, ring and hands, and the soft waviness of white mother-of-pearl. Illuminated with 32 diamonds, total of 1.23 carats, set in the bezel and lugs, the Petite Heure Minute Astorite is limited to 28 pieces.
The watch, reference number J005003580, is powered by Jaquet Droz 2653.P, self-winding mechanical movement, which features balance-spring and pallet-fork horns in silicon, a double barrel, flat bridges, and 18-carat red gold oscillating weight. The movement, mounted on 28 jewels, beats at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, and provides around 68 hours of power reserve. Water resistant to 30 pieces, with individual limited serial number engraved on the case-back. Mounted on a rolled-edge, hand-made grey satin strap.
