Jaquet Droz Petite renews its support for Only Watch 2015
The manufacture of Jaquet Droz presents the unique Petite Heure Minute Paillonnée timepiece, designed to show support for the Monaco Association against Muscular Dystrophy, and its efforts to raise money for research into Duchenne muscular dystrophy. For the sixth edition of the Only Watch auction, Jaquet Droz reaffirms its support and presents an exceptional piece decorated with paillonné enameling.
Paillonné enameling is an ancient decorative technique that can be traced back to the 19th century. This particular type of enameling implies applying layers of translucent colored enamel over fine sheets of silver or gold. The goldsmiths of the Renaissance have developed this delicate procedure that consists of creating a raised motif using very fine pieces of gold leaves, and combining them with delicate work of enameling, to obtain both color and depth.
For the first time ever, on the occasion of the Only Watch 2015 auction, the house of Jaquet Droz uses the paillonné enameling ornamental technique on a 43 mm diameter 18-carat yellow gold case and a deep, fiery red Grand Feu enamel. As the brand explains in the official press release, the vibrant color, which is particularly hard to obtain, is the symbol of a quest for perfection for the brand, and a nod to the color of Monaco’s national flag.
The watch is powered by the self-winding mechanical movement Jaquet Droz 2653.P. The movement feature off-centered hours and minutes indicator, it beats at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, and promises around 68 hours of power reserve. The sophisticated mechanical core incorporates a silicon spiral, which guarantees seamless stability over time. This is another innovation from Jaquet Droz, since it is the first time that the brand incorporates the silicon in a Petite Heure Minute model. The manufacture movement is partially revealed through the crystal sapphire on the back of the watch, which is engraved with the commemorative inscription "unique piece Only Watch 2015."
The Jaquet Droz Petite Heure Minute Paillonnée for Only Watch 2015 is mounted on an edge hand-made prestige alligator leather strap with forged ardillon buckle in 18-carat yellow gold.
