The house of Jaquet Droz presents its new masterpiece – the Petite Heure Minute Relief Carps, a watch that pays homage to the koi carp, which is regarded as a symbol of love and longevity.
Jaquet Droz Petite Heure Minute Relief Carps features a breathtaking dial made by using two highly demanding decorative techniques – engraving and enameling. The dial of this naturalistic model features a delicate scene in which the miniaturized koi carps are represented gliding along under a watery veil, covered with lotus flowers and rushes. This charming motif was taken from Asian culture, where these lovely fishes appear as one of the most prominent ornamental themes. The ancient symbol is epitomized on the dial of one of the Jaquet Droz’s best-known models, the Petite Heure Minute. The watch features off-centered hours-and-minutes sub-dial, which appears as if it is floating on the surface of the watery landscape. The dial is created through layering of translucent blue enamel, and nestled inside of 41mm wide case. Two lily pads are represented on the surface, while a blooming lotus flower, made in relief, completes the graceful composition. The central motif, koi carp fishes, appears under the enamel, against the backdrop of wave-ridged gold, and topped by an engraving of sky and birds.
The sapphire crystal embedded in the case-back reveals an interesting innovation – for the first time ever, Jaquet Droz presents an enameled balance weight, adorned with a carp hand-engraved in bas relief. The balance weight mirrors the color of its case, which can be either red gold or white gold. The white gold model (reference J005024279) features bezel and horns set with brilliant cut diamonds, with the white mother-of-pearl hours-and-minutes sub-dial is encircled in white gold. The red gold model (J005023279) is fitted with a black onyx hours-and-minutes sub-dial with a red gold outlining ring.
Both versions of the Petite Heure Minute Relief Carps are limited to 28 exclusive timepieces. The watches are mounted on matching rolled-edge hand-made gray or black alligator leather straps with golden ardillon buckles. The watches are propelled by Jaquet Droz 2653, self-winding mechanical movement, which features a double barrel, and provides 68 hours of power reserve. The caliber beats at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, and it is stabilized using 28 jewels. Jaquet Droz Petite Heure Minute Relief Carps is water resistant to 30 meters.
