The house of Jaquet Droz presents its newest creation, a range of beautiful timepieces decorated with a star-born Aventurine: Sunstone.
Jaquet Droz Sunstone collection features gorgeous gold-colored dials made of Aventurine glass. Goldstone, or Aventurine glass, originates from the Venetian island of Murano, which has been known for its delicate glassware for centuries. This special type of glittering glass was originally discovered by pure chance, when an artisan glass-maker accidentally spilled some small shards of metal into the vitreous paste. Even its name evokes this interesting telltale, as the original Italian name avventurina comes from avventura, meaning "adventure" or "chance". The sunstone is made in a low-oxygen reducing atmosphere, and it has a similar glittering appearance as many natural gemstones.
Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde Cerclée Sunstone
In 2015, the house of Jaquet Droz embarks on yet another aesthetic adventure by introducing a new Sunstone collection to its assortment of mineral dials. The range is distinguished by its radiant ember-colored dials with shimmering flecks of gold scintillate. According to the brand, the collection evokes “the luminous power of the star considered by the sages of Antiquity as at once a celestial body and deity,” in three emblematic models: the Grande Seconde Cerclée, the Petite Heure Minute 35 mm, and the Lady 8.
Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde Cerclée Sunstone, reference J014013340, is issued in a limited edition of 88 exemplars. The watch features a sunstone dial with two interlocked mother-of-pearl sub-dials that form a number 8 outline. The 39mm-wide case is made of 18-karat red gold and it has an individual limited serial number engraved on the see-through case-back. The reverse side of the watch reveals the glory of its self-winding mechanical movement, Jaquet Droz 2663. The mechanism is fitted with a 22-karat white gold oscillating weight, it beats at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, and, thanks to its double barrel, ensures around 68 hours of power reserve. The Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde Cerclée Sunstone is mounted on a rolled-edge hand-made brown alligator leather strap with 18-carat red gold ardillon buckle. The watch is water resistant to 30 meters.
Jaquet Droz Petite Heure Minute 35mm Sunstone
Jaquet Droz Petite Heure Minute 35mm Sunstone, reference J005003271, is also available in only 88 pieces. The watch features the exclusive sunstone dial, and it comes in a 18-karat red gold case set with 232 diamonds (1.22 carats). This circular watch measures 35mm in diameter and has a transparent case-back which reveals the Jaquet Droz 2653, self-winding mechanical movement, together with its 22-karat white gold oscillating weight. The movement beats at a frequency of 4Hz and drives indications for off-centered hours and minutes. It runs on about 68 hours of power reserve, and may withstand the ingress of water to up to 30 meters. The Jaquet Droz Petite Heure Minute 35mm Sunstone is mounted on a rolled-edge hand-made brown alligator leather strap with 18-carat red gold folding clasp.
Jaquet Droz Lady 8 Sunstone
Jaquet Droz Lady 8 Sunstone, reference J014503271, is issued in 88 individually numbered pieces. Its dome-shaped sunstone dial is embedded in a 35mm red gold case that set with 63 diamonds (0.66 carats). The case features a sunstone ball bearing at 12 o'clock and crown cabochon. It utilizes Jaquet Droz 1153 self-winding mechanical movement with double barrel and 22-carat white gold oscillating weight. The movement provides 68 hours of power reserve, and it is water resistant to 30 meters. The Jaquet Droz Lady 8 Sunstone is paired with an integral rolled-edge hand-made brown alligator leather strap with an 18-carat red gold folding clasp set with 21 diamonds (0.22 carats).
