The famous American rapper and producer Shawn Corey Carter, known by his stage name Jay-Z, has collaborated with Hublot to design and produce a special new limited edition watch the Shawn Carter By Hublot Classic Fusion.
Shawn Carter By Hublot Classic Fusion watches are designed entirely by Jay Z and produced by Hublot. If you happen to be one of the many Jay Z fans, you may have even noticed a hidden teaser in Jay’s single "Otis" from 2011 – “a new watch alert – Hublot!” At the time, the rumor was that Jay Z had signed a business deal with Hublot, but this story has never been confirmed. However, Hublot’s latest release provides a solid evidence for these speculations - two new watches designed by Shawn Carter Jay Z!
Jay Z watches are both Classic Fusion models with the recognizable Shawn Carter logo cut into the dial. The dial is partially open-worked and it reveals the ultra-thin HUB1300 hand-wound movement. The propellent mechanism runs on 90-hour power reserve and it is sealed against the ingress of water to about 50 meters of depth. In addition to central hours and minute indication, the Shawn Carter By Hublot Classic Fusion features a running seconds indicator at 7 o’clock. The watch is a classic Classic Fusion model with its 45mm in diameter, and both are mounted on black alligator straps.
One of the models is crafted from black ceramic, it features a black dial, and it is limited to 250 pieces. The other one is a yellow gold model, with bright golden dial, which will be limited to 100 exemplars in total. Both models will be available from November 20th at Barneys New York. The watches are actually inspired by New York City in a color palette of black, white, gold and silver, and they will be offered as a part of the Barneys New York “A New York Holiday,” event, which takes place in the BNY SCC Gallery. Let me also note that Barneys New York will be donating 25% of sales from “A New York Holiday” products for the Shawn Carter Foundation, a New York-based charity which awards post-secondary scholarships to students facing socioeconomic hardships.
The stunning Shawn Carter By Hublot Classic Fusion retails at $17,900 for black ceramic version, and $33,900 for yellow gold variation. You will be able to find them on Jay Z’s pop up installation at Barneys New York and at select Hublot boutiques worldwide.
