TAG Heuer, a brand that is the Official Partner of Oracle Team USA, the 34th America’s Cup defender at this year’s 34th America’s Cup, now partners with Swiss national team in first-ever Red Bull Youth America’s Cup.
The famous Swiss brand will join the young Swiss sailors of Team Tilt, aged 19 to 24, who will participate in the race on the wing-sailed AC45 catamarans used throughout 2011 and 2012 in the America’s Cup World Series events.
Speaking about the new partnership TAG Heuer President and CEO Jean-Christophe Babin said: “We are very proud and excited to be partnered with this next generation of racing talent. TAG Heuer and Team Tilt are driven by the same values: high-tech, precision, tradition and 100% passion for competition. We hope that this exciting experience will stimulate future Swiss projects. We would be very proud, for example, to be associated with a Swiss bid for the 35th America’s Cup.”
TAG Heuer will provide the Team Tilt’s America’s Youth Cup with special TAG Heuer eyewear and chronographs, including the special new Aquaracer 500M Calibre 72. The watch is a special regatta countdown version of TAG Heuer Aquaracer 500M. The watch is crafted from stainless steel and it measures 43mm in diameter. Its black dial has a horizontal streak finish and features a countdown function at 12 o’clock. There are two black counters on a dial: a minute counter at 9 o’clock and the running seconds counter at 3 o’clock, along with the running second hand with triangle-tip, and an angled date window with magnifying lens.
The dial is graced with Hand-applied TAG Heuer and TEAM USA logos at 6 o‘clock, while the bezel reveals red lacquered ”COUNTDOWN” inscription. The monoblock case-back shows a special ORACLE TEAM USA boat stamped decoration. This is a professional diver’s watch that offers no less than 500 meters of water resistance and has an automatic helium escapement valve positioned at 10 o’clock. It comes on a black rubber strap with horizontal streak effect decoration, and with an alternate steel bracelet with polished edges. TAG HEUER Calibre 72 Chronograph for Oracle Team USA will be available starting from March 2013.
