Ahead of the Baselworld watch and jewelry show, the house of TAG Heuer unveils the fresh new interpretation of the legendary Heuer Carrera Chronograph. The iconic model, tightly associated with motor racing, celebrates its 55th anniversary this year. To mark the special occasion, the avant-garde chronograph is offered in a brand new version, equipped with the new Heuer 02 Calibre manufacture movement.
The TAG Heuer Carrera Heuer 02 Chronograph comes in a single size, a 43mm wide modular case equipped with a tachymeter bezel and a skeleton dial with 3-69 counters. The model is, for now, available in 13 different variants in steel, carbon, ceramic, or gold, while the special new 45 mm version with GMT function is yet to be unveiled. The chronograph can be paired with a metal, rubber, leather or ceramic bracelet.
The Heuer 02 Calibre, entirely in-house designed and manufactured, incorporates 168 components, including a column wheel and a vertical clutch. The modern and reliable movement oscillates at a frequency of 4 Hz, offering an 80-hour power reserve via single barrel.
The watches are equipped with a skeleton dial featuring the original 3-6-9 counter layout from 1963. Chronograph minutes and hours are located at 3 and 9 o'clock, respectively, the permanent small second is at 6 o'clock, and date window at 4.30. Like all recent TAG Heuer Carrera models, the new Carrera Heuer 02 Manufacture features a sapphire case-back and is water resistant to 100 meter.
TAG Heuer Carrera Heuer 02 Manufacture with a 18k 5N rose gold bezel and lugs retail for $12,500. The ceramic version with a ceramic bracelet will retail $6,550, while the steel version will come with a price tag of $5,500. The watches will be available for purchase from June 2018.
